Clear Your Fitness Hurdles in a Few Easy Steps

When it’s time to head to the gym, do you find yourself reaching for an excuse instead of your earbuds? Are you constantly meaning to get started on a new exercise routine… probably sometime next week, if your evenings are open? Are you so tired with work and kids that you just can’t seem to do anything in your own free time but lounge on the couch?

We’ve all been there, and sometimes you truly do need a break. But if you really want to commit to exercise and a healthier lifestyle, chances are a lot of the things you see as hurdles on your fitness journey might actually be all in your head – or could even become opportunities.

Don’t know where to start? This is a tough hurdle to overcome, and understandable. When you walk into your local Fitness Connection for the first time, you might be overwhelmed at the choices in front of you: cardio, weight training, HIIT classes, yoga, and all those other people who seem to know what they’re doing. If you’re not sure where to start, just head to the front desk and ask. Everyone at your local gym is ready and eager to help you figure out where you’re starting and where you want to go.

Don’t know what you want to accomplish? “Getting fit” is a noble goal, but it doesn’t mean the same thing for everyone. Fitness Connection has personal trainers who are highly qualified in assessing your current fitness level and figuring out what regimen is right for you. Again, all you have to do is ask. Don’t be nervous! We were all beginners once, and even veterans can lose sight of what they want to accomplish next. If you’re really lost, check your local gym’s class schedule and pick whatever sounds good. Fitness classes are great for introducing you to all kinds of new workouts!

Feeling tired? Understandable. If your current workout time isn’t working for you, have you considered switching to a different time of day? Some people energize their day by starting it at the gym, while others like to slip out for lunch or wind down after a hard work day with a workout. Whatever you’re trying, switch it up a little bit and see if you feel differently.
