An ancient proverb says that “slow and steady wins the race,” and now we’re saying it too! Building on all the progress you’ve made up to this point takes time. As a new year begins, we have a tendency to rush into everything. It can be hard to remind yourself to take a breath and relish the current moment. Our mantra for this year is about getting back to the basics.
There are many reasons to get back to the core of fitness. According to Paige Waehner, CPT of Verywell Fit, “If you go from no exercise at all to hitting the gym 7 days a week, you may be overtraining and you're bound to feel burnt out.” Knowing your body and how it moves helps to reduce injury and build stamina. Focusing on form, technique and habits are more important than doing the highest number of reps possible.
