2023 Is The Year Of Fitness Success

An ancient proverb says that “slow and steady wins the race,” and now we’re saying it too! Building on all the progress you’ve made up to this point takes time. As a new year begins, we have a tendency to rush into everything. It can be hard to remind yourself to take a breath and relish the current moment. Our mantra for this year is about getting back to the basics.

Tips To Prevent Injuries When You Exercise.

There are many reasons to get back to the core of fitness. According to Paige Waehner, CPT of Verywell Fit, “If you go from no exercise at all to hitting the gym 7 days a week, you may be overtraining and you're bound to feel burnt out.” Knowing your body and how it moves helps to reduce injury and build stamina. Focusing on form, technique and habits are more important than doing the highest number of reps possible.

What Motivated You To Get Here?

Only you know where you’ve been and continue to be on your fitness journey. But here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • Why’d you join the gym in the first place?
  • How can you continue to benefit from your workout routine?
  • What are your goals for this year?
  • How will you reach your goals and set new ones?

Back To The Basics Routine

A great way to get back to the basics is by working out using just your body weight. Follow along with the below circuit as many times as you can.

  • 20 bodyweight squats
  • 10 pushups
  • 10 walking lunges with each leg
  • 30-second plank
  • 30 jumping jacks
  • 15 Russian twists on each side

Being the best version of yourself at the gym is not all about how much you can bench press. Getting really good at the foundational aspects of working out can lead you to be the best you there is.
