TX Safety Update

Valued members,

As you probably are aware, Governor Abbott announced last week that he had decided to end the state-wide mask mandate and expand capacity restrictions for all businesses, effective Wednesday, March 10, 2021. What you may not have heard is Governor Abbott’s guidance that this announcement “does not abandon safe practices that Texans have mastered over the past year.” He said that to “stay safe, Texans should continue following medical advice on preventing COVID just as they do on other medical issues.” He emphasized “that each person has a role to play in their own personal safety and the safety of others.”

Like many of you, we have made many challenging decisions since the COVID-19 pandemic started. To help in our decision-making on this issue, we surveyed you, our members. More than 70% of those who responded stated that you wanted members to continue to be required to wear masks inside our clubs. We have decided to honor this request. It is consistent with the CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the recommendations of our local health officials. It is also consistent with the decisions many other businesses in Texas have made including Starbucks, Target, Kroger, HEB and many, many others.

And while we know some of you may not be pleased by our decision to continue to enforce our requirement that you wear a mask inside the clubs, we also know that, for now, our best path forward is to continue to make YOUR health and safety and the health and safety of our teammates our top priority.

We are all excited for the day, which we believe is right around the corner, when we can eliminate the mask requirement, but in the meantime, we ask for your patience for just a little bit longer. Texas Strong – we can do this together!
